When you change the way you look at things the things you look at change.

It used to be Think Yiddish, dress British and talk Chinese.  Now it’s, Talk Black, think White, love Yellow, and act Green.

Be careful of the computer age and the Internet information age.  It is becoming easier to download information a second or third time then to memorize it.  We no longer have to remember anything. Just Google it and the machine remembers for us. We are actually spending our lives in front of a screen mixing, mashing, downloading, uploading and feeding the network.

This magnified, collaborative interaction, complexly ebbed, into our environment and lives, is morphing into our identity.

New Year resolution

Follow the three R’s: Respect for self, respect for others, responsibility for all your actions

There is only one time to wake up…now.

One of the joys of life is beginning.  Learning anything is a new beginning and a human evolution. Pride is the greatest obstacle to learning.  This is why children, without self-awareness and ego, learn most easily and why some vain adults cannot learn at all.

Read more great literature.

Happiness

“It is in your act that you exist, not in your body. Your act is yourself, and there is no other you.”

“The real task is to succeed is setting man free by making him master of himself.”
Antoine’s de Saint-Exupery, Flight to Arras.

Pompousness needs to be punctured.

Life is juicy, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. Eat it up.

Travel and Insights

“Psychotropic epiphanies and profound insights start with a smile.”

Mel Hantz, Educator, Teacher of the year.

Some people travel and have been nowhere.  Some have traveled little but have seen. Foreign places cosmopolitan and isolated, opulent and poor or remote, unique and populated, may all embody elusive truths that we seek or need.  But the reality of life is that we only need the basics and want what is both infinite and ephemeral. The truths about places that are untouched by the outside world is that they can only hold up a tiny portion of the psychological mirror that will enable us to be objective, think new thoughts and encourage our imaginations to soar.

Don’t sell yourself short.

People generally take you at your own estimation of your own worth.

Praise and blame, gain and loss, pleasure and sorrow come and go like the wind.  To be happy, rest like a great tree in the width of them all.

Happiness comes from within. If you choose to be happy, no one and no thing can ever take that happiness from you.
