Awareness

You understand a joke spontaneously. Your perception of the humor usually is not analyzed or studied before you simple smile or laugh. No amount of explanation or intellectual analysis can explain to a person who does not have a sense of humor why the joke is funny. You get the joke or it escapes you, even if you fake the laugh you still haven’t got the joke.
In the same way you must experience the awakening of your awareness of your body and a Zen philosophy directly. You either get it or you do not. Stress release and wellness cannot be just learned. To be effective and positive life changing it must be experienced through your personal newly found awareness and practice. Zen perception of the now is anchored in spontaneity, simplicity and total awareness.

It was ten o’clock in the morning but the day was dark gray. Soon the sky turned a shade of wet cement as it began to drizzle. The fetch picked up as the front of the wall of rain hit home. I was cowered and ducked as the thunder clapped right over me echoing around the sky. How could the clouds hold so much water? The rain fell fast and hard and formed streams around me. If the storm was just a brief squall, I could understand its intensity, but it did not let up for hours and the flood began.

Some people dance in the rain, others simply get wet.

Bushido Love

A student asks, “Can Zen and Bushido, the code of the Samurai, be adopted to daily living, and especially to relationships?

The philosophies of Zen, and the code of Bushido, have both evolved in order to be significant to modern individuals. The first path toward enlightenment in Zen is Proper views. The first principle in Bushido is Honor. Since both are moral compasses, they just needed to use more contemporary language.

Proper views. For a successful relationship love it for what it is, not for what you want. Take into account that great love and great achievements require great risks.

Bushido. In serving serve, in fighting kill, in loving give all and keep your heart as open as the sky.

Regaining Elasticity

YOGA. Take a beginning class, relax and smile. All you have to do is stretch. It is a great way to start to move. Remember the idea is always to release tension, stress, and unwind. You have to start to reaffirm contact with your body and loving yourself. After you stretch, sit, breath, and meditate.

It is the tree that bends with the wind that survives.
