Illumination

I always wanted to have my way. Perhaps it was control or maybe that’s the way I thought I could get what I wanted in life. Maybe it was a young way of thinking. When at last I began to settle for eighty percent of what I wanted, my life became richer, more fulfilled and expanded to much closer to what I not only wanted but what I could achieve.

He who settles doesn’t tangle, since ‘a bird in hand is better than two in the bush’. And I say that a woman’s counsel is bad, but he who won’t take it is mad. Cervantes, Don Quixote

Take the brick wall of the past and put it in the future and there is none.  Satoru

Sunrise

The sun came up and the rooster crowed. The farmer came out of his house and feed the chickens and gathered the eggs. The rooster strutted around the yard and chased some chickens. The sun came up and the roster crowed. The farmer came out of his house and feed the chickens and gathered the eggs. The rooster strutted around the yard and chased some chickens. The sun came up and the rooster crowed. The farmer came out of his house and feed the chickens and gathered the eggs and cut off the roosters head.

Just because the sun comes up we cannot assume the day will be the same. If we repeat the same actions we will usually get the same results but one day we may get our heads chopped off. Repetition and redundancy are not growth. If we want to grow and prosper we must make changes in our day-to-day lives.

ATTITUDE / GROWTH

Alone is also all one.

Newton’s third law of motion is also a blueprint for how people and things react in real life. To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

“The motivation to explore and create usually is restrained and is wiped out by the forces within the society.”
B.F.Skinner in Walden Two.

Live a good, honorable life. Then, when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.

Adversity

Adversity is a part of life but being a victim is a matter of choice.

The student remarked, “It isn’t that I dislike the masters doctrine. It’s just that I haven’t enough strength to follow it. A more advanced student answered, “One who hasn’t enough strength becomes exhausted in the middle of the course, but yours is a case of deliberate choice.

Truth does not stem from reason it stems from belief. We all believe that what we think is the truth.

Learning to Fly

The wings that you must carry on your back can be a burden or you can learn to fly.

It’s a dark, gray, rainy day and the sky is the color of wet cement. It is the afternoon but it is so dark outside that I must put a light on. A big-footed bird alights on the top of the trellis outside the window. I press my face against the glass to get a better look. The bird has such big feet because it is a Peregrine Falcon. Its talons are holding a small bird and it rips the sparrow to pieces with its beak while it eats perched precariously twelve stories high. The bird is a dull gray and blends in with the sky except for the two white markings on its breast and both sides of its head. It is only a juvenile but I am amazed that it is surviving in the city and paying little heed to the drizzling rain. It is so beautiful, rare to see especially close up, and out of reference for the city, that I will try to encourage it to come back again. Since it is a carotene eater I’m going to get some feathers and some chicken and tie it to the top of the trellis. American Indians say it’s good luck when the Falcons appear near you.

Life lives on life. We all eat and are eaten. When we forget this, we cry, when we remember this, we can nourish one another. Satoru
