Code of Bushido and Work

I am a policeman and work for the city. Some of my fellow police officers I work with are very irritating; barely do their jobs, continually talk on their cell phones, take no initiative yet constantly complain. When we witness vehicular law infractions, instead of doing something, they say, “Well it’s New York.” How should a Zen Buddhists handle this situation?

You do not proselytize; they will teach you patience. You cannot change them by words, only by your deeds, and you cannot save anyone or arrest all the stupid petty lawbreakers. Although, you can warn them and give out summonses. With the level of incompetence, that is permeating the world, at an accelerating rate, “trust” will take on a new meaning. You cannot counteract this ineffectiveness and stupidity. You can only do your best to set an example and always take full responsibility for your actions. Incompetent people will always have an excuse for their ineptitude, which in reality is just a well-planned lie.

Choose your battles, lovers, and your company wisely. Life is all you ever see and touch so have some fun and relax. Life is about to get harder. Do not worry about what you should be doing and focus more on what you want. Doing something you love with passion makes work fun and gives you a life. Innovate, strategize, and try to understand human nature and yourself. There is always something you can succeed at, so always hope and do, do not just try-do it. Do not be afraid of failure, it is the best teacher and a key to success. If you want something you have never had before – then you must do something you have never done before. Observe the bigger picture and do not just focus on the insignificant aspect with which you have an emotional attachment. Setting your priorities correctly will give you the most impact and allow you to motivate, inspire, learn and change. Find the talent that can help you to carry out your mission, a triangular alliance is more stable than a two legged one, and be decisive once you have the facts to act. Have strategic solutions but remember that being just approximately right can solve many problems. Do not take no for an answer from a person who does not have the power to say yes. Satoru

Bushido Success and Leadership

The more successful you are the easier it is to lead. If you have success you can afford better advisors, food, health care, and most of all you have more energy. Seek out an older successful person and ask their advice. Consider the information they give you with a view toward change and having a vision. Stop everything and listen to the quiet to have contact with your intuition and creative thoughts. Forget about multitasking and focus on doing one thing with quality and excellence.
