“Bigger is better” is the prevailing assumption, just about everything. It’s only natural for us to want to supersize our network of connections. The more people we know, the greater our chances of being exposed to opportunities; professional advancement, potential mentors, material success, etc. But in fact, supersizing your network can be not only be an exercise in futility but detrimental. Rather, it’s about surrounding yourself with a carefully curated group of people who will set the tone with people who provide value. Divide your acquaintances and associates into positive, negative, and neutral. You know who the negatives are; they take your energy. The neutrals take up the time that you need to interact with the positives. Get rid of them as well. Sometimes less is more, but life is always action. Satoru

Democracy is in real trouble when we don’t separate church and state. The supreme court religious right is just warming up. Here are some of the things they are discussing for their future agenda and reversals; Hitting, striking, or harassing any priest or religious leader is a felony (the exception being only for rabbis.) All gay people will wear a rainbow on the outside of the jackets for identification. Shaking hands as a greeting because of Covid will be replaced by crossing yourself. Hillary Clinton is a witch and will be burned at the stake. All life is sacred. Teeth have veins that give them a form of life. All dental extractions can only be granted when a male relative gives a female permission. It also follows that miscarriages will receive funerals. Alcohol will no longer be served on the Sabbath throughout the United States.
Get involved. Pick a side. Life is action. Assert equality or lose democracy.

Crisis
This blog goes out to the justices: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. You do not deserve your office and we dislike you intensely.
I’m devastated and terrified. So many women and so many girls are going to die because of this, I wanted to dedicate this next blog to the five members of the Supreme Court who have shown us that at the end of the day, they truly don’t give a shit about freedom or a woman’s right to make decisions over her own body – a basic human right. The decision will also harm those experiencing pregnancy complications and pregnancy loss.
The ruling was not grounded in any kind of reasoned debate or philosophical perspective, making the Supreme Court the “Fox News of justice. In a confirmation process that involved hours of televised hearings, Supreme Court nominees (Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh) indicated under oath that they considered Roe v. Wade to be “settled law” that should not be substantially changed.
“Anti-democratic” is often in the eye of the beholder, a term used to label any outcome a critic happens to disagree with. But in political science, one important component of democracy is a measurable number: How many Americans are living under policies they believe in? In a working majoritarian democracy, the answer should be “most.” If citizens don’t like policies, they can, and should, be able to vote to change them. With Roe v. Wade being overturned, however, we are heading into a world where that is no longer true. Politico
Religious right
When complexity makes knowledge difficult to attain we are an organism that substitutes knowledge with beliefs. Then we become susceptible to manipulation and ideology and follow false prophets. Public policy becomes shaped by irrational beliefs rather than knowledge or facts.
To many on the religious right, religious freedom only matters if it supports a right-wing political agenda. Indeed for years, extreme-right Christian groups have been misusing religious freedom to do everything from discriminating against LGBTQ people to denying access to reproductive health care. Far from a legitimate effort to protect the right to worship freely, religious freedom has been manipulated into another tool in the Christian nationalist playbook to circumvent any law or regulation they see fit. Tribal badges of identity, not of thought. It was never about religious freedom. It was always a right-wing political agenda, cloaked in faith.
In the last 43 years, anti-abortion activists, have committed at least 11 murders, 26 attempted murders, 956 known threats of harm or death, 614 stalking incidents and four kidnappings, according to the National Abortion Federation. The supposedly “pro-life” movement has bombed 42 abortion clinics, set fire to 194 and made 667 bomb threats.

Brooklyn Zen Buddhist
I try to be calm and understanding. But I have trouble being passive and accepting. Perhaps it is because of my upbringing in Brooklyn. There were always bullies. I was taught never to let a bully put his hand in my pockets, or else I would perpetually lose my lunch money. You had to fight. Even if you took a beating the bully would not bother you again. Never let a bully take what is yours, be it Putin, a business, or corporate America. A punch in the face will change their plans. Complain, write a letter, get on the Internet, call a politician, pick a side and do something. Life is action.
